How this website counts visits
George Herkes & Son Joinery counts visits to this website so we can see which pages help people and how they find us. We do it ourselves, without Google Analytics, advertising cookies or any other company’s tracking.
What we record
- The pages you look at, how long you stay on each one and how far down you scroll.
- The website, search engine or app that sent you here (for example Google or Facebook), and any campaign tags in the link you followed.
- Whether you tap to call us, tap to email us, open one of our articles, or follow a link to another website such as our reviews.
- Your rough location (town and country), worked out by our web host from your connection, and whether you’re on a phone, tablet or computer.
What we don’t record
- Your IP address is never stored.
- We don’t record your name, phone number, email address or anything you type.
- Search engines, bots and link previews aren’t counted.
- Nothing is sold or shared with advertisers.
Cookies
These are first-party cookies: they are set by this website and only ever sent back to it.
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| ghs_vid | A random number, so a returning visitor can be told apart from a new one. It doesn't identify you. | 13 months |
| ghs_sid | A random number that groups the pages you look at in one visit. | 30 minutes after your last page |
| ghs_optout | Only set if you opt out below, so your visits stay uncounted. | 13 months |
How long we keep it
Visit records are deleted automatically after 13 months. They are stored on a database in London that only this website’s server can read.
Opting out
You can stop your visits being counted on this device at any time. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as opting out too.
